About the Owner and the Name
Diane Klein and her husband Jeff are both graduates of Phoenixville Area High School (class of 1984). Diane began working at the Phoenixville Animal Hospital at the age of 14 and continued to work there throughout college. In 1989, she left Phoenixville and moved to Ardmore to be the lead technician (and only technician at the time!) of the Ardmore Animal Hospital, owned by Dr. James Bianco. Over the years she became the Practice Manager and part owner of the hospital until it was sold in July of 2015 to a corporation. Corporate America and Diane did not mesh, and she always had a ‘pipe dream’ to open up a small, pet friendly pet supply store where she could share her knowledge [of behavior, nutrition and wellness] with owners AND kiss dogs all day. ‘Voila’…Maddie’s Castle came to be when 178 Bridge St. became available for lease in early December 2015.
The store is named after two of our beloved pets that have passed -- Maddie our Pitty-Bulldog mix and Castle, the gray cat who loved Maddie and loved to rub against her chin (just like the logo)!
